Finding things...

Sand like powder, pink flowers, warm water, dead coral, huge clam shells...

May 30, 2012

Quince rescued a moth. We walked to the brilliantly bright beach, and swam to what felt like the middle of the ocean (with 1.5 kids on my back)...and met, no watched, the resident turtles. The water was so clear...

Breakfast beside the ocean, more snorkeling, packing to change rooms, peaceful evening sky. I saw the most mesmerizing school of silver, synchronized fish.

Adventures...

Snorkeling for the first time, finding creative ways back through the rocks, eating dinner during a torrential downpour.

Exploring nearby beaches, in a hammock or with a snorkel. The sand really is that white, the color of the water, an even brighter blue.

Plan B

Plan A (as coordinated by a travel company) turned out to be less than adequate accomodations beside a beach of garbage. After 6 hours of suppressed panic, and some friendly recommendations, we found THIS oasis.

A bumpy boat to the Islands. A day at the beach while I figure out plan B. The water is the most amazing variations of turquoise.

May 26, 2012

A laid back day of swimming, packing up, and 20 minutes of beach time before catching an all night bus to the Perhentian islands of Malaysia.

The kids...

Fed the turtles, walked around the gold Buddhas, watched hopes placed on the wishing tree, fed the fish, and worried about the "stray" Siamese cat.

Every corner mesmerizing.
